It was a long day, I bailed off the sleeper at Bodmin Parkway then had a pleasant walk to Respryn for the XC to Newquay then to St. Germans and Trefulefoot for the tours and then at Moorswater for the returns, also a few XC HSTs as well. Saturday 27 June 2009: A trip down to Cornwall to photograph the 37s which then turned into two 37s and a 40 on the day. An extremely unexpected appearance by Nodding Donkey 142028 on it's way to Reading for maintainance and some EWS/FL Class 66s along with the usual make up the remainder of the collection. A mention must go to Bryan for the company, his very interesting stories of SR steam locos/overseas filming trips and most of all the lift back to Pangbourne. Thanks Bryan! 66170 heads south with a well loaded 4O26 Washwood Heath - Southampton Intermodal. 66550 heads east witk a tamper in tow. 220025 heads north with an unidentified service. 66613 passes westbound XC livered 220022 heads for Reading along the Up Relief. A big surprise in the form of 142028 on a Exeter - Reading move, the driver giving a friendly wave as he passes. No load today for 66165 as it heads south with an empty rake of intermodal flats. On on borrowed time with FGW, 180108 heads west. 66550 heads a convoy with 66513 directly behind it and an unidentified Fred on the rear. A close shave, with a Turbo almost ruining the shot, making a fine sight 35028 'Clan Line' hurries to Victoria. [RH 130]

I try not to post doubles but as it was full sun the other photo of 66090 on the 6M96 makes it on to the collection. 66068 powers through Tilehurst with a rake of truck trailers on Warflats on the 6V38 Marchwood - Didcot 66061 heads west with a rake of VGAs and part of the cable train on the 6V39 Ludgershall - Didcot. 165111 slows for Tilehurst on the Oxford - Paddington stopper. 66530 passes with the 6Z28 Hinksey - Reading West Yard OTP move. 47237 heads east with the 0Z37 Gloucester-Reading West Jct. on its way to Norwich Crown Point. 43035 at the front of the HST,speeds through Tilehurst on the Up Slow. 66590 heads the 4M58 Soton - Ditton with 66568 dead in tow. 60022 on the 6B33 Theale - Robeston Murco empies crosses over on to the Down Fast. 220009 blasts through on the Down Fast 43135 at the front, with an unfortunate pigeon stuck in the horn grille, and 43191 at the tail of the HST pass through Tilehurst. 66530 returns west light engine. For some reason a number of HSTs used the Up Slow instead of the Fast, as seen here with 43075 at the head of this working. 66580 at the head of the 4M61 Southampton to Trafford Park 'liner on the Down Fast. 66187 6V27 Eastleigh - Hinksey 66173 passes on the 4M36 Southampton - Birch Coppice Intermodal. At Ely I was'nt going to leave the station but was persuaded to visit the Cathedral, if I had stayed I would have met a fellow Rail-UK forum member, Alan, but sadly he had left when I got back. The next day I visited Norwich and went to Carrow Road bridge, which is over the junction to the station. 90008 was notable as it had been relivered for the launch of NXEA from ONE the previous day. ]]> Wed Feb 27 2008 Duffs at Didcot http://iainsrailwayphotography.fotopic.net/c1459308.html As the forecast had predicted cloudier weather towards the end of the week I decided to make the most of the the sun and take a trip to Didcot. 47375 ran through light engine on it's way to Gloucester from Norwich and 47805 came through a few minutes later with a TGS and a Buffet car sandwiched between two barriers probably bound for Laira. 59004 made an appearance with a rake of PGAs, otherwise it was only 66s. I did see 60024 but I couldn't get a decent photo of it as it had already arrived, I did get a video of it leaving though. 47375 runs light engine through platform 3 on it's way home with the 0Z80 Norwich Crown Point - Gloucester Horton Road. 59004 pulls up to the signal with it's rake of PGAs, the gas powered power station can seen in the background. 47805 on the 5Z90 Old Oak Common to Derby, which was diverted to run via Bristol SPM to drop the TGS and collect another Buffet. The ensemble then ran to Derby to collect a rake of trailers and the whole lot ran off to Laira the next day as 5Z91. Thanks to Stuart for the info. 59004 passes the signal for Platform 5 as it 66141 on the 6V27 Eastleigh - Hinksey Engineers today conveying Autoballaster and cable train. 66591 4M58 08664 sit by the the signal as 66152 rushes past with an intermodal. 66567+66542 4O51 43151 rounds the curve of the avoiding lines at the head of an Oxford fast service. 66543 4S59 66078 in the yard. 66018 rumbles over the crossover as it runs around its coal before entering the power station.

An HST with 43171 leading comes to a halt just outside Reading West as 66588 passes with it's intermodal bound for Southampton. 43171 leads a Paddington bound express through Reading West from the westcountry. An AXC Class 221 'Super Voyager' slows as it passes Reading West for its stop at Reading. 66158 yings through Reading West light engine on it's way to collect 66144 and it's train. 166211 slows as it passes Reading West for it's stop at Reading. 165124 and 166211 pass at Reading West as the light fades on the 19th of January. Now a rare visitor to Bracknell 5733 and partner climb the gradient from Martins Heron. Unexpectedly Balfour Beatty Tamper DR73276 passes Ranelagh, Bracknell. 27.01.08. 458003 slows for Bracknell 66167 passes Ranelagh with a rake of spoil wagons on the 6N07 Ascot - Eastleigh on Sunday the 27th of January.

So I decided to WALK to Tilehurst, it's further than you think. An unbranded AXC voyager on the Up Slow is about to be overtaken by a HST on the Up Fast. 66250 works hard as exits Tilehurst station with a diverted coal train to Didcot due to the engineering works west of Swindon. 66250 and its rake of HTAs snakes its way to Didcot. 166210 is seen on a Paddington-Oxford stopper is seen accelerating away from Tilehurst. An eastbound HST comes off the curve as it approches Tilehurst before having to brake for the stop at Reading. 2 Voyagers make up this working from Bournemouth to Manchester Piccadilly are seen passing Tilehurst. 66091 waits for the signal to change at Reading with is spoil train from the engineering works at Cosham. 4 minutes later 66114 appeared with another spoil train, this time on the Down Fast through platform 4. A BIG Thanks to the driver who slowed down a bit for me to get this shot. The driver of 66114 gets a caution from signal and is allowed to advance towards Reading West. 180106 and 165130 cross at Reading.

I did see a barbie livered GBRf 66/7 pull into the loop next to plat. 10 but it was when going home. Typical. While there I saw an HST turned on the triangle. The tamper I saw at Reading followed me to Reading West and was also turned. Enjoy.
