A trip down to Cornwall to photograph the 37s which then turned into two 37s and a 40 on the day. It was a long day, I bailed off the sleeper at Bodmin Parkway then had a pleasant walk to Respryn for the XC to Newquay then to St. Germans and Trefulefoot for the tours and then at Moorswater for the returns, also a few XC HSTs as well.

 | | Ely & Norwich
These photos were taken during my trip to Norfolk to visit my Uncle. At Ely I was'nt going to leave the station but was persuaded to visit the Cathedral, if I had stayed I would have met a fellow Rail-UK forum member, Alan, but sadly he had left when I got back. The next day I visited Norwich and went to Carrow Road bridge, which is over the junction to the station. 90008 was notable as it had been relivered for the launch of NXEA from ONE the previous day. Photos from the journey back can be found at the end of the 'February Fots' collection.
|
 | | Duffs at Didcot
As the forecast had predicted cloudier weather towards the end of the week I decided to make the most of the the sun and take a trip to Didcot.
47375 ran through light engine on it's way to Gloucester from Norwich and 47805 came through a few minutes later with a TGS and a Buffet car sandwiched between two barriers probably bound for Laira. 59004 made an appearance with a rake of PGAs, otherwise it was only 66s. I did see 60024 but I couldn't get a decent photo of it as it had already arrived, I did get a video of it leaving though.
|
 | | February 2008

|
 | | Basingstoke
A day at Basingstoke, it started overcast but cleared up to some fantastic afternoon sun. Plenty of Sheds and a 59 appeared as well as the usual 158/9, 444, 450 and 220/1 while I was there.

 | | January 2008
My wanderings in January.
|
 | | Tilehurst
I was in Reading with my camera and fancied a bit of photography and having been to Reading two weeks previously I thought I would try a new location. So I decided to WALK to Tilehurst, it's further than you think. Most of the photos were taken from the bridge, to the river, about a few hundred yards away from the station, deciding not to walk back to Reading I got the train, waiting for me in the centre road at Reading was 66091 with spoil from the engineering works at Cosham and 4 minutes later 66114 turned up with another! Probably Westbury bound, if anyone knows the info would be welcome.
|
 | | Reading at Winter solstice
Probably seems stupid to go out for a spot of photography on the shortest day of the year... but I like a challenge!
And a challenge it was, not only cloudy but also hazy and some rain just to annoy me futher. HSTs, Turbos, Junipers and a Desiro feature here, 43002/3 both made an appearance with 43003 on a rare stop on plat. 5 on a down service. I did see a barbie livered GBRf 66/7 pull into the loop next to plat. 10 but it was when going home. Typical.
|
 | | Reading West
I went to Reading West to test out my new camera, an Olympus E-410. Highlight of the day was seeing 47839 hauling 47847 from Westbury to West Ealing also some 59s on the stone trains and 66s on intermodal.

|

A dayout to Didcot HSTs, Adalantes and Turbos, also Freightliners and EWS Sheds the highlight of the day was the WCRC 47/37 hauled 5Z47 Stuarts Lane - Tyseley ECS. More photos tomorrow...
|
 | | Reading & Reading West
A trip to Reading, while there I saw (other than HSTs and Tubros) 2 59s, a 66, a 57, a tamper and the 'Flying Banana' NMT but I didn't manage to get a photo of that.
Reading West brought the usual HSTs and units, of note was 2 of the 'new' SWT 158s on the Reading-Brigton run. Also a 59, a few intermodals hauled by... sheds/freds. While there I saw an HST turned on the triangle. The tamper I saw at Reading followed me to Reading West and was also turned. Enjoy.
